The Daniel Defense MK18 Rail Interface System II (RIS II) was designed at the request of United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the SOPMOD II program. It is a free-float rail for carbine gas systems and is used with the MK12 low-profile gas block. The two-piece design lets you remove the lower rail section so you can attach an M203 grenade launcher without extra parts or special tools.
The handguard attaches to the upper with a battle-tested 6-bolt bolt-up system and a steel barrel nut. It has an uninterrupted upper rail and mil-spec 1913 Picatinny rails. Machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished with mil-spec Type III hard-coat anodizing. Fasteners are Grade 8 military specification.
