The Spyderco Endura 4 with Emerson Opening has the blade-opening feature made popular and patented by Ernest Emerson of Emerson Knivesalong with a Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) handle with molded texturing for improved grip and ergonomics. The Endura 4 has a VG-10 blade, this model has a ComboEdge blade which is part PlainEdge and part SypderEdge. Along the blade's spine is slip resistant jimping. The clip is upgraded to a four-way adjustable tip-up, tip-down, left or right handed clip.
