The Daniel Defense M4A1 AR-15 Upper Receiver Group uses the RIS II Picatinny quad rail, in use by US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the SOPMOD Block II program since 2005. It is built around a 14.5" cold hammer forged M4-profile barrel with a permanently attached Daniel Defense flash suppressor. An independently ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle works for left- and right-handed shooters. Sights are sold separately. Made in the USA.
The upper is mil-spec 7075-T6 aluminum with indexing marks and M4 feed ramps. The barrel is chrome moly vanadium, 1:7 twist, chrome-lined, mil-spec heavy phosphate-coated, and HP/MPI tested, with a carbine-length direct impingement gas system and a pinned, low-profile 4140 steel gas block. The muzzle device is the Daniel Defense extended flash suppressor in 17-4 PH stainless steel, salt bath nitride finished, pinned and welded to the barrel. The M16-profile bolt carrier group is mil-spec MP tested, chrome-lined, and has a properly staked gas key.
